“And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, we can possess it, for we are well able to overcome it. ” (Numbers#13:30)
Melinda and I have just returned from Romania and the land is good! Bucharest is not only the Capitol, but also a city of over two million souls. 86% of the population is Romanian Orthodox and in need of a Praise Chapel. Our contact was with a young man named Filip Ologeanu, their church ” Missio Dei ” is located in downtown Bucharest. It was through a contact in Estonia that I was introduced to Brother Filip and the church. Our time there was in extreme cold but, in the midst of all the ice and snow, God’s presence was there and for that we are grateful.
As Americans we are required to obtain a Residence Visa, which means an existing ministry in Romania must grant a letter of invitation or sponsor us. While our time in Bucharest was for only five days, it was enough to touch our Brother Filip and the church. As a Non- Profit Organization in Romania, they are unsure if they can grant this letter of invitation. If possible, they have informed us that they will. I am reminded of Paul the Apostles words to the church at Philippi, ” …no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but you only.” For my lovely bride and I, there was, at least for now, one church that did communicate with us in Bucharest. They gave of their time, allowed me to share a few words in their Sunday morning service, and even gave us a ride to the airport upon our departure. We were received into God’s grace through his servants at ” Missio Dei Church ” and we thank the Lord and give Him praise.
” A huge door of opportunity for good work has opened up here. There is also mushrooming opposition. “
I Corinthians#16:9 (Message Bible)
“Let us go up at once said Caleb, and possess it, for we are well able to overcome it.” I do believe that Caleb was speaking on behalf of a Fellowship such as ours. One filled with pioneers, church-planters, and sent ones. Pray with us, give with us, and if possible go with us and let us take the land!
Sincerely, Menchaca’s in Eastern Europe
